TAXATION IN FIJI.
REVISION OF INCOME TAX. (By Cable—Press Association—Copyright.) {Australian and N Z. Cabh Association.) SUVA, April 12. The Legislative Council of Jb'iji, at a sitting this morning, passed a new income tax ordinance ot is per £ on a minimum income of £ooo for bachelors, and £IOOO for others, with a surtax of Is per £ up to £SOOO, with a maximum of 6s on amounts exceeding £25.000. The rate for absentees was fixed it Is per £ up to £IOOO, and then by steps to 7s on amounts exceeding £25,000. Shipping companies will be charged 6d per £ on outward business, and insurance companies 6d per £ on income exceeding £IOOO. , A business profits tax was agreed to of 20s per cent, on profits exceeding 15 per cent, of the capital.
