:.■■.•< Tlie Canterbury Pigeon Flying dub flew their annual Derby race from Nelson. Sistynine birds were sent, divided amongst sixteen lofts competing. The winner turned out to be F. Kingaford's No. 983, which flew the distance 0f'159 miles 1597 yards air-'.ine in 4 hours 51 xmirates 69 seoonds. \ The following is the velocity recorded byVach owner's bird:—F. Kingsford's No. 983, 963 yds 3H 7ni per minute; F. Smith's No. 624, 363 yd* 2ft 2in per minute: J. C*Caraa*ll'fl No. -238, 955 yds per minute: D. Dore's No. 167, 955 yds per minute; J. Close's No. 691, 954 yds per minute; F. Wilson's No. 60, 944 yds per minute; G. Robertson's No JB6, U3Byda per minute; B. Finnegan's Trenton, 988 yds per minute; G. Buckley's No. 458, 916 yds par minute; Woodhouse Bros.' No. 79, 892 yds per minute; J. Falconer's St. Kilda, 891rdo per minute; H. Wilson's No. .108, 737yde par minute. ■F. Xingßford wins outright the Walter Johnson Silver Derby Challenge Cup for Kelson races.
