There was a good attendance, *42 being taken at the gate, which is twico the amount taken last year. NOTES ON THE RACING Reappear scared a popular win in the Ellesmejo County Handicap, and after tho race Mr P. Dclargey, president o{ the club, presented a'hanasome silver, cup to E. Carlyon, owner and trainer of the" winner.; - Bon Elect and Ohapi, both trained at Aldington; won their races with a lot in hand, especially tho latter, who for a, mile and a half has a useful-turn of speed. ■ Renown appeared to have the Leeston Handicap won four furlongs from home, after which stage his driver took matters easy, and wfcat looked like an easy victory resulted m an excitintf finish, Renown, beating Genw Ribbon by, a neok, with To Kuiti a l 81 1?** away third. Renown was driven by ftl»-ownsr-trainer, T. E. Pressor, while. Gentle Ribbon had the services, of F. Holmes. Peter Dillon, winner of. the Bracelet Handicap, ißgintored a. fine performance by winning iron: scratch in 3min 31eeo, tho.Jaste3t time'of the day. The son of Potereta and Lorna Dihon won two races there last year, and' js evidently partial to tlto Leeston trac^.
