COAL SUPPLIES.
GOVERNMENT CONTROL TO . • ' •. CONTINUE. ' Anxiety has been expressed as to what action the Government is taking to ensure a reasonable supply of coal during the coming winter months, and as to what steps will be taken to see that supplies are equitably distributed. The matter was referred on Saturday to the Prime Minister, who said that it was the intention of tho Government to continue its system of coal control through tho Coal-trade Committee. As far as it was possible to know at present, last winter's system would be used this winter. DUNEDIN GASWORKS. (special to "the pbess."; DUNEDIN, April 9. The position in regard to coal supplies at tho gasworks is better than it has been for some years past. About TOOO tons of coal nre in stock, and a further supply of 1800 tons of Newcastle coal is arriving. Other supplies are in sight, so that for the immediate future at least the requirements" of the gasworks are assured (nUBSS ASSOCIATION TELEGEAK.I WESTPORT, April 9.
