"A London newspaper recently received £2ooo' for a single advertisement of a sale from a leading firm of London merchants/' says an .American journal. "It is elaimod to be a world's record. The advertisement filled four pages, and the rate was £SOO a page. Tho statement is made that the. samo firm and its associated companies spent in the same newspaper over two hundred thousand dollars—£s3,ooo—during 1920. This item is worth noticing, because .it is symptomatic. There is an outbreak of big advertising in every part of. tho world. Most per&ous are under tho impression that tho disposition of merchants to fill pages of newspaper space is a new kind of American exaggeration. As a matter of fact, the world has a new awakening to the trei mendous force of publicity, and business leaders everywhere are realising that they must get in the game or go out of business. It isn't American only; it is world-wide.
