The Under-Secretary for ', Public • Works wrote enclosing a copy of the warrant authorising the Kaiapbi Borough Council to erect the Cam bridge. Prior wrote, asltingtße Council to improve the road on the north side of the racecourse. It was resolved to notify landowners to clear'their road frontages. On* the motion of Cr. Mcintosh, seconded by Cr. Ormandy, it waa resolved to vote £2 10s to, the Soutnbrook Fire Brigade. A petition was received from several rate-payers,-praying that oiectric street lights be installed,;, on the Ashley road. Mr C. W. Bell also wrote on behalf of residents on the east bide of the South belt, asking for electric *nirtT>B ori the street, as it waa narrow and dangerous. It waa resolved to ask- the. Hnngiora Borough Council to supply the current fo» Ashley roads, and that they be asked to join with the county in supplying lajnps on the South belt. A letter was read fvom the Canterbury Progress , League regarding the Government .abandoning the permanent diversion of the Harper river into Lake Coleridge, and asking tHe Council to support the League in their efforts to hard tho work gone on with. The chairman reported that he had attended the meeting in Christchurch on Wednesday last, and had supported the resolution. It was resolved that the- clerk ascertain if the landowners at Bell's are prepared to pay their proportion of'the'cost of kerbing and cAaniDclling their path. It was resolved that legal proceedings be taken to recover outstanding rates. It was agreed to widen a portion of Easterbrook road. The monthly statement showed, • receipts £435 15s 7d and bank credit- balance £O9l 19s 6d. HEATHCOTE. The Heathcote County Council met ]„i night. Present: Mr (1. K. Burton (chairuwnK Crs. C.
