DUCK SHOOTING.
TO THE EDITOR OF "TItK FKKSS." Sir, —Now that the time far the opening of the duck-shooting season is drawing near, it should be every sportsman's (l>y "-sportsman" I mean, a man who plays the game, and plays fair) business to prevent illegal snooting, before the season, opens. I see where a report has come to hand of some mean persons 'shooting black teal at the mouth of tho Waimakariri; also of a conviction arid fine of £4 and costs in the Magistrate's Court at Amberlev for shooting ducks out of season. This sort of thing occurs nearly every year, and "sportsmen" have tneir snooting at the beginning of the season spoilt by these people, ivho consider it clever to try and "beat the band.'' I aDpeal to all sportsmen to make it their business to prevent this illegal shooting, and, if possible, get the wroitgdocrs prosecuted, as.an example to others:— Yours, etc., WIDGEON.
