FIRE BRIGADE REFUSES DUTY.

The Cork Firo Brigade, when summoned to outbreaks at Blackrock, refused to leave 'the station because tno hres were of incendiary origin. > It is reported that armed men visited cottages in the neighbourhood, sprinkled the furniture with petrol, and then burned tho houses. ARREST OF ESMONDE. VANCOUVER, April 7. The precipitancy of the Mayor in arresting Esmonde on a charge of seditious language is giving Esmonde newspaper space throughout vhe continent. Tho Mayor, fearing an outbreak of religious strife, and having failed to induce Ottawa to take the case off his hands, suggested that he would not prosecute, it Esmondo immediately continued his journey to the AO antic ports. Refusing to compromise, Esmonde was released on bail. He has engaged a ~atnolic lawyer, and will fight the charge.
