ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the Society for the Protection of Women and Children was held last evening,, the Rev. C. A. Fraer. presiding over a large attendance. ' In moving the adoption of the annual report, a sumuiary ot which has already been published, the chairman referred to the excellent? work bcinc done by the Society, and especially by its secreTary, Sister Edith Walton. The Society was not able to do much preventive work unfortunately—it was rather an ambulance corps which* administered relief to the socially wounded. ' ' The report was adopted. Addresses - (reported in another column) were .Then given by Professor Condlitfe, Professor of Economics nt Canterbury College; Mr D. G. Sullivan, M.P., and his Lordship Bishop Brodie. The following officers were elected for 1921-22: President, the Itev. C. A. Fraer; vice-presidents, Mc:>dame» Sandston, T. E. Taylor, Green, and the Itev. F. Rule; treasurer, Mr C. R. N. Mackie: secretary, Sister Edith Walton: collector, Mr L. C. Moore; hon. solicitors, Messrs Cuningham and Taylor, Messrs Salter and Gresson, Mr J. A. Flesher, and Mr J. Upham; hon. medical officers, Doctors W. H. Simpson, W. F. Browne, and J. F. Duncan; committee, the Mayor, Mesdames Roberts, Christie, A. Anderson, Malcolm, Herbert, Tomlinson, Ensi<ni Pile, Miss Cardale, Revs. C- Perry, W. Baumber, P. Revell, and Messrs* J). G. Sullivan, M.P., H. Holland, and IX Fawcett; Ashburton agent of the Society, Miss Gates. Votes of thanks were accorded the various officers of the Society, the speakers for the evening, and the Press.
