OXFORD. i The Oxford Agricultural and Pa3tor»l Association's Annual Sliow was held yesterday in th* Society's well-appointed grounds. Noth- , ing that an extremely enthusiastic and energetic body of officers, with Mr Edward Skurr as president, oould do to ensuro the success of the show had bowi overlooked. Unfortunately, the special train from Christchurch, oonvejing visitors and exhibits, did not reach its destination, until nearly noon, being over an .hour behind time, and thi3 had the effect of delaying 'the judging, the draught horses not being finished till after 4 o'clock. In Bpite of this drawback, however, the day's proceedings wore carried through in o, satisfactory manner, not a, little of the success of the show being due to the admirable way in which the. Mr L. Watson, carried out his duties, the arrangement of the catalogue bejug specially commendable. Exhibits, both in point of numbers and general excellence, surpassed those of previous shows. The total number of entries catalogued was 1603, as compared with 1281 last year. An encouraging feature was the large increase in the .sntxjes in the draught horses, 112 being catalogued, as compared with 37 last year. Other important sections also showed »-gratifylng increase, those in which tho ladies were supreme ■ being specially notable in that respect. The horses were nn all-round good lot, and there was an excollent exhibit o! both shey and- cattle, maw of tho exhibits being worthy of a place aJtho Metropolitan Show. In spite of the weather being threatening jr» the morning, with on occasion light drisszle, the attendance was a very large one, £69 18a 6d being 1 taken at tho gates, an increase of over £2O on last year's receipts, Tho Oxford Brass Band played during the day.
