OUR TRAMS.
TO THE EDITOR Of "TUB PBES9."
Sj r) —l was glad to read in '(The Press" this morning that the Women's Civic Group had drawn 'the attention of the Tramway Board to the difficulty aged people and cripples experienced in boarding the trams. While "they are about it the Board might look into the matter of getting off the strains, not only for the aged and cripples, but for the general public. • For some reason lately many of the trams on the.Papanui line have been travelling at a great rate, and I know of two instances of near accidents from cars moving on while passengers, were alighting. Some of the conductors appear to be always rushing—singing out "hur,ry on, hiirry on." This would not matter if they would not "hufry off" people who are not too sure on their feet, and pull the starting bell before they were on the roadway. What is the reason for all this hurry .and bustle? Is it that now hands have to be hurried up in their work, or what ? I hope the Board will not wait until a serious accident occurs before they look into this matter.— Yours, etc., WOMAN TRAVELLER. April sth.
