MAYORESS OF WELLINGTON A MEMBER, ! (FBESS ASSOCIATION tZUEGKAH.) WELLINGTON. April 5. Al new Board of Heaj|thj» con-, stituted, and Mrs J,;Pr fiuifej J Mayoie - 5s of Wellington, has been appointed to it. The Hon. C. J. Parr thinks this is the first time a woman has held a position on a State Board in New Zealand. The -oard will comprise the DirectorGeneral of Health, and a medical practitioner, to be appointed on the recommendation of tho Minister. It i 3 understood that Surgeon-General . McGavin will be the medical practitioner member of the Medical Board constituted under tho Medical Practitioners Act, on the recommendation of the New Zealand branch of tho British Medical Association. ; Dr. Elliott's namo is mentioned as the medical practitioner member of the Faculty of Medicine at the Otago University. There will be five lay members of the Board: Mr T. J. Martin, solicitor, representing tho, New Zealand Mttnicinnl Association; a second, representing"the New Zealand Counties' Association: Mr W Ferguson, civil engineer, of Wellington • Mr Wm. Fraser, chairman of the Taranaki Hospital Board, and the Hon. W H. Triggs, M.L.C.
