OBITUARY.
The death occurred at Napier on Sunday, after a long and painful illness, of Mr John Alexander Fuller, a former resident of Marlborough, and a ntember of the well-known Picton family of that name. He was born in Picton 57 years ago.
Mr John Lindsay, aged about 60, exMayor of Ureen Island, died suddenly yesterday morning (telegraphs our Dunedin correspondent). He had just left his home in that suburb and was going to his work, when he dropped dead in the street. Deceased had received medical attention about five years ago for heart trouble. The death occurred at Launceston a few clays ago of Mr Oscar. E. O. Balfe, one of "Tasmania's best-known journaU iste, at the age of 60. Deceased had been ailing for over twelve months, but carried. out the duties of editor of the "Courier" until a few months ago. In earlier days he was associated with the theatrical profession, and toured India and • New Zealand, where he was specially engaged to play heavy leads with the late Mr Dion Boucicault. He was a son of the late Mr John Donnellan< Balfe, one of the pioneer politicians of Tasmania, and leaves a widow and grown-up family. •
