' (?Itf.S* ASSOCIATION TMJtUftAU.) NEW PLYMOUTH, April 1. Threo Maorif were drowned, and a rescue party nearly lost their lives, in a boating fatality off the coast some miles from New Plymouth to-dny.

A party of five Maoris left 'the coastal town of Oaonui, on a fishing excursion, and in a fairly heavy swc'l the boat caosized, tho anchor keeping tho craft from rightiug itself. Mr Cleghorn, of Opunakc, a- powerful swimmer, went out in a boat with three Maoris as a rescue party, but tho' boat capsized, and the rescuers we're \u danger, but all reached shore after some exciting experiences. An eye-witness-.ray* that they dwo their lives to-the resource and eourago f of Mr Cleahorn. 'lhe names of those drowned are: Mondav Mitchell (O.ionui). Jimmy Rangi*(Rahotu), and Peeni (Xormanby).
