OWNERS AGREE TO CONFERENCE. (PRESS AS9OCIATIOS TTXEGIUM.) WELLINGTON, April 1. The coal-mine owners have intimated to the Miners' Federation that they aro prepared to meet their representatives in conference to discuss the matter of a new agreement, but will not guarantee to commit themselves to a settlement on tlie six domands previously objected to by them, and which hav« ben described' as far-fotched. When the claims wero before the employers previously, they declined .lo agree «> a conference until these clauses- wero withdrawn. The mine-owners state that \ they cannot conceive of any argument which will modify their, decision that it is impossible to agree to tho six itemH referred to.
Friday, 15th inst., has heen suggest, ed as the date of tho conference.
