MR EDISON ANALYSES MUSICAL SOUND. +- In analysing the combination of a musical note, the lowest tone is called the fundamental tone, and the softer 'and sweeter tone 3 are cabled the overtones or' sound-colours of a musical ncte. Let the sound-colours be absent from a musical note, and the resulting sound is thin and strident. The Edison Phonograph is superior because of its reproduction of musical overtones.
