EASTER TOURNAMENT. The Canterbury Lawn Tennis Association's Easter Tournament was continued yesterday, but not concluded, and tlie outstanding ! matches will have to be played later as opportunity offers. " In the Men's Championship Singles th© semi-final round was reached A very fine match was played in this round between the two veterans, W. Goss and A. Borrows, who ltave fought together many a ha*d tennis battle. The play was of a. very high order, and the game possessed plenty of interest right up to tho finish, Goss, after losing the first set 7-9, by steady play and unabated activity, won the two following 'and the match. . . „. , .'. -L The Ladies' Ohampionship Singles, which was. brought to a conclusion, was a. disappointing event altogether. None of the leading local ladies had entered, and the consequence was that the event, a really important on©, went largely ty default. The •standard of play in (he final match was anything but representative of the standard ]jossesppd by the leading ladies of the province. The Men's Ohampionship Doubles were fought fiercely to a finish. In the semifinals a' very fin© gam© was put up by R. Browning and T. Patterson, who looked like winning art several stages, but who just foiled in a prolonged third set. The winners of the Championship were W. Goss and P. G. Greenwood, who defeated Dr. Allison and K. Clark, 6-3. 6-3, after a. well played mat ool . . _ ~ The Ladies' Championship Doubles went easily to the Wellington pair, Misßes Curtis 'and Arrowsmith, who altogether .outclassed their opponents ' The many spectators assembled were treated to a first-class display of high, grade tonnris in the final of th© Combined Doubles Championship between P. G. Greenwood and Mrs Lord and.Dr. Allison and Miss» Curtis. Greenwood took a large shore of the work in <ui endeavour to cave his partner, who had been playing many strenuous games during ithe'day, and.h©.was very effective at the net. Tlw other two, however, easily held the dominant position, and won t'm match, 6-4, 6-2. The smashing shots of Miss Curtis were again the subject of general admiration.
