[Major-General Sir Harry Barron, K.C.M.G , 0.V.0., formerly Governor ' of Tasmania and of Western Australia. , was born in 1847. He joined the Royal Artillery in 1867, and became Major- ' Goneralin 1904. He retired from th-> ' Army in 1909, in which year he was : appointed Governor of Tasmania.
