♦ The good citizens of Paris seem to have taken the initiative in the war on criminals which must bo fought in order to suppress the tidal wave oi crime that has swept almost all Countries since the termination of hostilities, and the disbandmeut of large armies. It ha 9 remained for some ingenious Frenchman to.produce a liquid poisongas pistol. This little instrument of. protection for the law-abiding citizen lias been inspired by the war. It has the advantage of putting au adversary hors de combat immediately, but without evil effects of any kind. Tho gun, which somewhat resembles an automatic pistol, contains liquid 'poisonous gas which, if it strikes the bandit, puts him to sleep at. once, Again, if it strikes the bandit in the eyes, it blindshim for several days. The handle of the gun contains the liquid poison which is compressed with the aid of i bicycle pump at the lower end of the handle. All one has to do is to point the gun at the target at a distance of not more than ten feet, and press the trigger, which releases a thin stream which is accurate at tliat range. The liquid, emitting poisonous gases, disarms the bandit.
