FIRE BOARD.
Tho Clrristcliurcli Firo Board met last night. Present —Messrs 11. P. Hopkins (chairman), F. Burgoyce, A. Williams, H. Holland, j*J. R. Cameron, ani H. R Rtiabridg>e. The Beckenhiim Residents' Association applied for the installation of a firm aJiftm system in the district. A complaint. was also lodged that, when an alarm was given ■recentlj from Malcolm avenue, a, reply -was received that the place was ontgido the city area-. Mr Burgoyno said the Brigtufe had actually turned out. There was first of eJI n raisunderstandinu, as a portion of Italcohu avenue was beyond the city area. It was decided to roply that tlia Board •liad under consideration the matter of the extension of tho alarm system to BeoienJinm and Fisherton. Mr -Holla-nd reported- verbally on tho recent Fite Board Conts.renos which ho attended in Wellington. The Superintendent reported that 22 calls v/ero received during tho month—7 false (5 malicious), 2 rubbish fires, i «ehim.rey iiies, o!i=> outside district call, and 8 actual fires ia tho city a-rea. The estimated total fire loss was £667, insurances on buildings and contents £2700, estimated values of pyoportias involved £1035.
