DISPUTE AT GISBORNE.
(PBESS ASSOCIATION' TELEGRAM.) GISBORNE, November 9. Work on the waterfront was completely suspended to-day. Tho demand of the men was that they should have four men on the wharf to four men in the hold of the schooner Fairburn, as well as the man on tho bullrope. The Fairburn has a cargo of cement. At tho last call time, 4.40 p.m., all the men lined up, but no call was made. Mr Ronas, president of the Watersiders' Union, said it was possible, under the latest circumstances, that their future action would be determined bv tho watersiders' headquarters in Wellington. A meeting of the Shipowners' Committee this afternoon decided to commnnicnte with the employers' representatives in Wellington, with a request that the matter be taken up with the Watersidors' Federation at Wellington. The Ripple, from Wellington, arrived during the - afternoon, but the work of unloading was not commenced.
