I/, Garvin, reviewing Mrs Asquith's book, says it is a star-shell of scandal, making out that Downing street, in Armageddon, was a palais de danso, and that tho statesmen had tho jazzing fever. Men will, in future, not express admiration for a woman without a guarantee against publicity, or propose marriage except in. tho presence of a solicitor. Mrs Asquith, in Paris regarding tne London criticisms, said: — "I have given no one away in my book! I said only one-third of what 1 knew, and one-eighth, of what I feel. I had no wish to write the book differently."
