In referring to the acceptance of tho English Electric Company's tender for the electrification of the Arthur's Pass section of tho Midland Railway hv the New Zealand Government, the Trade Supplement of tho London "Times" makes the following comment: "Tho fact thnt a British li'rm has securtd tjio contract for the first work of tho kind is highly satisfactory. Now- that a beginning* is being made with equipment of British, type the disadvantages of introducing plant of a different pattern must reinforce the sentimental preferenco for British goods in connexion with future orders.
