EGYPTIAN INDEPENDENCE.
THE LINK OF FRIENDSHIP. (By Cable—Press Association—Copyright.) (Australian and N.Vi. Cablo Association.) LONDON, November 5. In view of the speech by Lord Milnor in the House of Lords yesterday, in which he stated that there was no reason to suppose that Egyptian Nationalists were generally hostile to Britain, or that flie attainment of"their aspi pactions was necessarily inconsistent with safeguarding British interests, the Egyptian delegation will probably postpone their departure from London in anticipation of a fresh conference with Lord Milnor. Zaghlul Pasha stated that the speech (had produced a. very good impression. He paid a tribute to Lor.d Milner's ability and sympathy, and said that Milncr had endeavoured to build the Empire not by force but by friendly means. Dfespite difficulties and misunderstandings, Zaghlul Pasha has not abandoned hope of an agreement, which all Egyptian patriots desired. The granting of independence to Egyptians would be a permanent Anglo-Egyptian link of friendship.
