Except for a little business in oats for export the produce market this week has bcon quieter than has bten tho case for soma time past. The reduction o£ freight to London on oata from £10 ltrs to £6 10s net, making it possible for London market prices to be equivalent to local rater, has mi used some animation in trade in that lino of produce, but moat of the business transacted in oats for export has been in the South, where tho bulk of the stock is held. The Shropshire, during the week, loaded over 3000 sack 3 at j Lytt-eiton, and it is believed that she will take in about 20,000 sacks ai tho Bluff, while the Port Caroline will take about 40,000 tacks from the same port. The lonic is now loading a quantity oi oats at Lyttehon, and tho Mahia. will take in dfcta at Timaru. It is not Vet known if the- Kerr, will take oat 3 for the United Kingdom, as tho loat may go to New York instead of London.
