CRICKET.
0 NEW ZEALAND COUNCIL. The Management Committee of the New Zealand Cricket Council met last evening. Present: Messrs F. C. Raphael (chairman), and D. Reese, E. R. Caygill, and J. F. | Peake. I A letter was received from the secretary of the Australian Board of Control with reference to the proposed visit of an English team. I Tho writer stated that he had received a cable from the Council a-3 follows: — j "Would it be possible to arrange programme for the English team to allow them to vinit" tho Dominion in March?" In reply he had to state that it would not be possible to accede to the request, as the English team would be f.ully occupied with the Australian programme right up to the date of sailing from South Australia townrds the end of March. The writer mentioned that in the event of the Australian team visiting England at the conclusion of next season, it was probable that they would travel by the Panama Canal route. In that case it might be possible to arrange a match with a Dominion team on the days the Australian team would' "be in New Zealand awaiting departure. The writer wished the matter to bo brought under the notice of the Council, and to know whether they would be prepared to give a guarantee, and what amount, for a two or three days' fixture, as suggested. The writer further stated that he did not think there was any likelihood of the Board, or any of tho associations, being able to send a team to tho Dominion next season, in view of the English visit, but the whole question wou'd bo gone into at the next meeting of the. Board. Consideration of the matter was deferred until next meeting.
