WHY BLANKETS ARE SCARCE.
Many people have nskod w]iv blankets .should he to scarce this winter, seeing that millions of pounds of wool arc produced every year in New Zealand, and that, we havo'sevcral large woollen raiKs in the Dominion. The .simple fact is that the local manufactories are quite unable to cope with tho Dominion's requirements in woollen goods, and the shipping shortage has prevented oversea mills from sending us adequate supplies. The situation is one that emphasises the need for the extension of manufacturing enterprise in New Zealand. In response to this need, .1 new woollen company has been formed—The Wanganui "Woollen Mills, Ltd. It is proposed to build an extensive modern mill at Wanganui, which offers a very advantageous site for such an enterprise. The capital of the companywill be £200,000. The existing woollen mills of the Dominion are flourishing financially; their products aro widely and favourably known. There is undoubtedly an opening for the mill now proposed. Prospectus of the "Wanganui "Woollen Mills, Ltd., together with application form," can be obtained from tho local brokers, Messrs J; O. Jameson and Co., 152 Hereford street, Christchurch; or from tho interim sec-retary, Mr E. M. Silk, F.1.A.N.Z., "Wanganui. 8
