A DAT AT THE BACES. (By CaJ>le—Press Association —CopyrigivJ (Australian and N.Z. Cable Association.) MELBOURNE, June 9. Tho Prince had better luck at the second day's races. . He backed a couple of winners, and recovered his previous losses. The. Prince of Wales spent a considerable time yesterday at Canlfield racecourse mounted on a hunter, jumping the schooling hurdles. During the visit of H.M.S. Renown to Christchurch, Mr H. B. Sorensen, on behalf of the Lyttelton Harbour Board, presented to the Prince of Wales an ad- . dress of welcome f*om the Board. At its meeting yesterday, the Board received from the secretary to his Royal Highness a letter thanking it for the address. A letter- was also received from Admiral Halsey, expressing his appreciation, and that of his officers, or the efficient manner in which tho Renown had been handled in Lyttelton, and stating that all had left Lyttelton with the deepest regret.
