$ : . MEETING Or EXECUTIVE. A meeting of the Canterbury Patriotic Fund Executive was held yesterday, Mr H. Holland presiding. , . A request from the Hanger Springs Golf Club for a donation was referred to tho lied Cross Society, with particulars of the donation previously raado by t li>> Patriotic I 1 una. Tho treasurer's statement showed that the total rceeiots for May wero £761 C 3 Gd, making tho total receipts to Hay 31st £215,818 Cs°9d. Tho payments for May were £23-10 (is 'Id, making tho total £163,363 14s. Tho report was adopted. 'Particulars were received, from tho "War r%eii?f Association, Wellington, regarding tho conditions of the immigration of ex-Imperial soldiers and sailors, 13,000 of whom will roach cv' Zealand withi® tho next eighteen months. The Association hoped that, as a result of its efforts, the matter would be placed on n satisfactory footing. It was dccided, after discussion, to point out tli-.it tl;e fund had no funds availablo for the assistaneo of such immigrants. New Zealand soldiers ne°<3-:d assistance, it was re-niark-rl by more than one speaker, and exTmpovial men, who should bo looked -after by the Imrwrial Government. should not have to bo assisted from New Zealand funds.
