U.S. PRESIDENCY
THE REPUBLICAN NOMINATION, j (By Cable—Presa Association.—Copyright.) (Australian and N.Z. Cablo Association.) (Received June 7th, 10.30 p.m.) NEW YORK, June /. The "New York Times", correspondent at Chicago says: "With the Republican Convention only a few days off, no one can even hazard a guess as to who will be nominated as the Presidential candidate.. However, a considerable boom for Mr H. C. Hoover started to-night, but tho boomers have not yet come out into the open, though it is whispered that big interests are backing him. It is argued that Hoover is a friend of the League of Nations, and supporters of the League will naturally back him. "It would seem to-night, however, that Senator Hiram Johnson is tho favourite. The women are expectcd to play a big part in this year's Presidential nomination."
