CITY BOUNDARIES.
* POSSIBLE EXTENSION. Pursuant to notice, Cr. Flesher moved at last night's meeting of tho City Council: "That this Council is of opinion that the time is opportune for the functions of the Christcliurch Drainage Board, so far as the sewerage area is •concerned, to be undertaken by the Christihurch City Council, and tnat a special committeo ba set un to consider and report what steps should be taken to bring about the necessary amalgamation, with power to confer with the Drainage Board or any other local Louy concerned in tho matter." ! Flesher said tho adoption of tho proposal meant the extension of the city baundari<ss, and a conference sh-c-uld be held with other adjoining local bodies to consider the matter of amalgamation with the city. He understood the Drainage Board would ba willing to hand over its functions to the Council if the Council extended tho boundaries in the direction necessary, ; and also provided an adequate water j supply. • .Cr.
