T. yen oral manager, New Plymouth, forwarded a long xecaminendatiort favouring tha creation of iunds in rcspect of local bodies' loans, and suggesting that local bodies should borro-.v ia bulk thnugh the Government in place of competing for money. The letter was received. DOMAINS BO Alt D LEW. , Mr E. J. Howard forwarded liis resignation as a Council representative of the Do mains Board. He regretted he could not support the CiHincil'.s instructions in the matter of the Board increasing: their levy. If tho question en wo before the Council lie woidd assist tho Domains Board to his utmost. He looked upon the Domains Board • as almost akin to the health authorities. Cr. McKellar said the City Council, in common with other local bodies, gave instructions to its l'- preventatives that it could rot consent to an ii c-rcaso in tho Domains Board levy. The resignation . .iva.s accepted, and Mr Howard was thanked for his pafit services. C'rs. Armstrong and FJesher were appointed to represent the Council on tho Domains Board. .C.O.'a. ' The Abattoir Committee reported that the Citv Surveyor estimated the cost, oi establishing a chilling' room at the abattoir as fellows:—To bold two weeks' killing, '295: to hold one week's killing:, .CI6.GSI; to liuld three days' killing. i"J f \SN. Tho Elc-ctricity Committed reported that ;t contract was et:tercd into with Messrs Lane and Co., Melbourne, to purchase a synchronous condenser 'at £1000, and the Committee was now advised that a morj ctfic-ient apparatus wan ijroctirablc, and was endeavouring to caicel the contract with Lane and Co.
