In the presence of 60,000 ■people the English team opened, their tour. Alterations were made in the Icama, Tye replacing- Burge, and Hiltoa replacing Clarke for the Englishmen;
Tlio visitors won. the toss, and from tlio kick-off forced tho game, rushing' the ball to the homo twenty-five, where, after much close work, Johnson eecured it from the pack, and /crossing 1 tho line, scored. Grodiow converted.
Sydney triad to forco the game, but the combination of tho visitors wu3 too good, Rodgera scoring l a try, which was not converted. ft few minutes later. Rodgere again scored, and Grodnow converted.
Tho home team here forced the game, and after much close work Harder scored, Fraeer converting. Grodnow then kicked a. penalty goal, but their first scoro livened up the home team, who forced the garno for tho remainder of tho half. Korder scoring a try, which was not converted.
Sydney opened the second half -with dash, and after a rush to the English twenty-five McGowan ecored a try, but it was not converted. In the play which followed tho lqcal team showed superiority in tli© scrums. Thsn Horder kicked a penalty goal, and a few minutes later kicked another, thus equalising tho scores. The Englishmen again picked up and forced lh9 game, Stoekwell scoring twico and GrodBOff converting twice. Sydney rallied, and tried hard to equalise, bringing their ecorp ■up to 20, Horder scoring and converting, btit a few minutes before time Grodnow kicked a penalty goal, removing all hone of victory for Sydney, who were beaten, by 27 pointa to 20. i ASSOCIATION - . r SENIOR GRADE. Plcying at English Park Rangers (2 goals) beat Linwood (I goal). Barwell and Rumsns scored for Rangers, and Shaw for Linwood. Mr G-. Black v/ae Teferea.
