Our Wellington correspondent telegraphs: There is a growing feeling here that the proposal to embody the seven stone minimum in the Rules of Racing will fare better at the hands of the Racing Conference at its annual s:t-, ting next month than it did last vear. j The advocates of making a committee j of the conference the authority for is<u-j ing trainers' and jockeys' licenses also j hope to get their proposal through. Tlie large majority of votes required to effect. an alteration in the rules makes a big hurdle for the reformers to sur-i mount. Copa de Oro Junr., the promising' two-year-old colt in Nelson Price's stable, is amiss, and is an unlikely starter in the New Zealand Sapling; Stakes at Ash burton. |
