PARISHIONERS' MEETINGS.
ST. JOHN'S, LEESTON. The Itev. H. O. Hanby presided over the annual meeting of parishioners of St. John's, I/eeston. The statement showed a. small debit due to the collecting having fallen behind during tho vacancy. The promises received, however, wero more than sufficient to cover all .expenditure. There had been two cbuuges in the vica.rship during ?ho year and several good workers had been lost by removal. Tlie report thanked the organists, Sunday School teachers, collectors, and others., Mr A. 35. "VVrthell submitted the Brookside ba.ktnce-sheet, showing a credit of .i'GO £s. The Irwell balance-sheet showed a credit of £1 lis. The parochial statement showed that ■£1-o(j 17s 2d had bean contributed through the offertories for general purposes. The only debt in the parish was a small one on tlie parish car. The vicar nominated Mr T. H. Stephens' as Bishop's warden, and Dr. B. Volckman was unanimously -,e-elected parishioners' warden. Tho following were elected to the vestry:—Messrs G. Rookon, F. B. WoodarJ, C. Fisse, F. E. Kesteven, H. E. Laycock, F. Hanson, A. Duffell (Lce.ston), A. E. "Withell, J. Hight (Brcokaide), T. A. Stephens And another (Irwell). It was decided to hold socials at regular intervals during the winter, and Mr Kes.tev r en wa3 appointed to organise a men's committee, and Mis Emms -a ladies' committee. Upon the motion of Mrs Volckman, president of the Ladies' Guild, it was decided t.o enlarge tho rear part of the parich hall. The vicar Bpoke at length on tho subject of church finance, and said he was very anxious to see tho finances placed upon a stable footing. It was decided to rccommend to tho Vestry the introduction of tho envelope system of contributing.
