ASHBUSTON. A meeting of the General Committee of the; Ashburton A. and P. Association was held on Saturday afternoon, the president-, 1 Mr A. Horsey, hi the chair. The Nov.- Zealand Clydesdale Horse Society wrote slating that, through the generosity of its members, was enabled to supply the Association with ten silver medals in lion of gold medtt-ls competed for at the shows from 201 ito 1313. The British Clydesdale Society had written stating that gold medals for 1914 had been forwarded, but they had never arrived. The other medals had not been granted, and the British Society declined to supply them. The offer Was accepted. The president and secretary were appointed delegates to attend tho Agricultural Conference. " ■ Mr 3". Nosworthy, Minister of Agriculture. forwarded a copy of an appeal to farmers' to grow more wheat, stating 1 that an avcr&go of 100,000 bushels was desired, as it was important, with the present short,"re of the world's supply, that New Zealand should not be dependent on outside sources to replace any deficiency. Some important alterations and additions to tho present rules of the Association were read and discussed. It was decided that the usual horse p«rade be held in the spring:, and a. committee was appointed to carry out the necessary arrangements. Tho chairman stated that the Minister of Agriculture had been trying to get Ashburton made a cenfro for grain trucks, cie., and that he would do his best in the intvrests of the Ashburton wheat growers. The secretary reported that tho Ground Committee were endeavouring to get a chain road at the proposed new entrance to the Show Grounds, and they hoped to plant j each side with ornamental trees.
