A grant of £250 wculd bo asked for school extensions and improvements at. Gcralcune. Tno ISeckenhp.m Committee bad applied for two additional c'.ass roDms, the erection of caretaker's residence, and (ho shifting of ln " dows in the south wing. They also asked that comc effort be made to reduce the sise of classes. It was resolved that tho_ inspector be asked to report on. overcrowding, tho architect to report 011 windows, and that the heating system bo regulated. The rebuilding of tho ChriKtchureh West school v-o-i d hi taken in h;v?id at tho earliest possible date. Plans for the new infant f-chool at V.'ultliam would be prepared at onco.
The Agricultural and Manual and technical C-crnmittce reported that consideration of Mr Alley's offer with rccard to EiascinK use of hi 3 farm at Upper Riccarton as nn experimental one in connexion with the Norm ril Training Col"ere hnd been held over till Mr Martin (Agricultural Instructor) was in a position tn supply fuller information regarding Mr Alley's clfc-r. j>e 'Va.rj'ill School Committee wroto, statin? that it v.'.t; unable to carry on on its present finnace®.
