OBITUARY.
MR WILLIAM BAILEY. An old ;md greatly respected resident of Leebton passed away on Friday last, in the person of Mr William Bailey. Bom in County Tyrone, Ireland, tK> Years ago, jlr Bailey set sail for Australia aioug v.-ith his wife, three weeks after their inaJTiage, in the ship Samuel Plimsoll. After spending a year m Sydney, Mr and Mrs Bailey decided to try their fortune in New Zealand, and came to Canterbury 41 years ago, taking up their residence at Leeston, where"Mr Bailey resided up to the time of his death. "Mr and * Mrs Bailey orought up a family of four sons and three daughters, and Mr Bailey is survived by his widow and four sons. The interment took place in tho Presbyterian portion of the idlesmere Cemeterv, the ~\\. alker I"K>ing th*? officiating clergyman. The death occurred at Petone on Monday of -Mr J. F. Gilmonr. a very old resident of the district. The la to. Mr Gilmour was of Scotch descent, and was born in Bosion. U.S.A., years ago. At the ace of '20 he left America I and came to New Zealand, living for [ twelve years in Canterbury, and then j settling ia Pet one, where he had resided j for 33 years. For. '20 years Mr Gilmoui' | was employed in the pelt plastering j department of the Gear Company, hav- i ing retired ten years a«o. He was a j senior trustee in the-loenl Druids' Lodge, nnd had been a Past I>istrict President j of the Ponefre Lodge and a member of | the Manchester Unity of Oddfellows, j Canterbury. He was also a prominent ! bowler. j
