Dr. F. W. Hilgendorf, of Canterbury Agricultural College, gave a brief and interesting address to Canterbury members of Parliament on Tuesday, on wheat seed testing under the Lincoln College scheme. He explained that be wished to- interest- members in these efforts to improve the quality of Canterbury cereal seeds, and in the course of his address said that the tests were mostly with seed wheat, but it was proposed to have experimental oat plots this season also, and in about 30 acres of ground there would be about 350 different plots. It was not possible to do much at present with grass experiments. The Agricultural Department had granted £o(X) towards assisting in the work. Dr. Hilgendorf was thfnked for His address, and was assured that he had won the interest of Canterbury members in the seed experimental work ®s carried out at the College.
