Another disastrous fire broke out at 11.30 last night at the rear of Perrau's bakery business in Main street. The whole block and an old wooden block adjoining, owned by Hennessv, were destroyed. Perrau's block was occupied by Mattar, tobacconist; Perrau's shop nrid dwelling; tho Marb'e Bar; an! Ryder's book establishment. Hcnnessy's buildings were .occupied hv Hoarsmnn, tailor; Dudron, fruiterer; and C. M. Ross, draper—in all, seven business premises. The Red Shield Club, which is detached by about 20ft from Hcnnessy's block, was saved. The stocks from the various shops wore salvaged. The only fire-fishting appliance is a small single-cylinder chemical engine, which, despite the splendid efforts of the brigade, was totally inadequate to cope with the conflagration. Perrau's building was insured for £1500, The fire was one of the most disastrous experienced here.
