OBITUARY.
MR GEORGE ALLPORT. (PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.)
WELLINGTON, March 29. Mr George Allport, late Secretary for Marino, died on board the Ulimaroa, en route to Sydney. Mr and Mrs Allport wore making a long-anticipated trip to London' to meet their only child, Mrs Strauchon. Mr Allport was G6 years of age. His health was known to have been failing for some time. [A cable message from Sydney states that Mr Allport's death occurred when the Ulimaroa was neariug Sydney. Tho body was conveycd to Sydnoy.] A Gisbnrne telegram announces tho death of Captain A. F. Hardy, aged 80, a grandson of Sir Thomas Hardy, of H.M.S. Trafalgar, one of Lord Nelson's captains. The deceased had been a resident of the Poverty Bay district for 50 years, and saw service in the Maori war.
