A tornado forty miles from Chicago City killed more than fifteen persons, and injured 500 others. One million dollars worth of property was damaged. (Received March 29th, 10.20 p.m.) NEW YORK, March 29.
More than ten suburbs of Chicago were virtually wrecked by the tornado, which demolished rows of brick houses, blew trains off their tracks, swept automobiles into the fields, fcnd killed 30 and injured 500 people. lighting systems in many of these suburbs were destroyed. Thousands of people are homeless. The military have been called in to undertake rescue work, and prevent looting. Heavy rain and a hailstorn 1 followed the tornado which, it is estimated, did 10,000,000 dollars' worth of damage.
