1 RANGIOKA. Tho Rangiora County Council met on Friday. l J roscntr—Messrs F. Horrell (chairman), EL Gairott, JL Mcintosh, M. 11. Stokes, Wv Stalker, and H. Tallott. An amended tendor of JC2S from Mcmw Cooper and Clist, for the right of cutting coclcsfoot on roads in tho Cust riding was accepted. _ _ , Tho chairman and Messrs Mcintosh and Tallott were appointed to represent tho Council at ft confcrcnoo to bo held at Rangiora to-morrow morning, to discuss a proposal to form on electric power district and board. Mr Jaroca Thompson waa appointed dog tax collector for tho county, the tax being fixed at 2s Cd for cach dog owned by farmore or drovers, and 10s for all others. Tho clork was instructed to cnga£> an engineer to prepare plana and specifications for a bridg© over Perrin's ford. Mr S, Pickard waited on tho Council with referonoo to diversion of water flowing from Todd's road. It waa rcnolvcd to request landowners having frontages on tho drain to pay tho annual cost of cloaning eame, tho Council to do tho work. Tho receipts for tho month wcro £262 7a fid. Tho bank debit balance waa reported to be £2255. EYRE. At the last meeting of tho Eyre County Council thero wero present—Messrs F. ti. Horroll (in tho chair), Rich, Mcintosh, Ward. Loavo of absonoo waa granted to Mr IC Evans. Letters were received from tho Department of Agriculture, notifying that Santana Comara had been declared a noxious wcod. Tho secretary of tho New Zealaxd Countios' Association wrote regarding employees' insurance and fidelity guarantee fund. It was resolved to support tho movement when established. Complaints wero made of stock being allowed to stray on tho West Eyroton-Cuet road. It was resolved that all stock found straying should bo impounded. Tho Kowai County Council wrote requesting tho Council to send delegates to a meeting at Rongiora on the 13th inst. to discuss the advisability of forming an Electric Power Board and district. It was resolved that tho chairman, and Messrs Evans and Rich represent tbo county. Tho tender of Mr S. Kluik at Is lid per collar was accepted for dog collars. Tho tating over of the Oboka and Mandovillo cemetery was deferred until next meeting, tho clerk in the meantime to mako enquiries as td procedure. Mr Ward ronorted that ho had mado arrangements for tho distribution and er.fo keeping of books should tho Progress Leaguo institute travelling libraries. Messrs Clark and Cooko wero given permission to haul coal for their wood and cliaffcutting plant* but no load, to exceed threo tons. At n special meeting of the Malvern County Council held on fuesdar, it ni decided that Thursday bo tho weekly half-holi-Uiiy. With regard to a cottaco hospital to serve tho combined conntios of Tawcra, Selwyn, and Malvern, it was resolved that tho Malvern Council was not in favour of a cottage hospital, but if anything was required it was a maternity home. The Commissioner of Crown Lands wrote regarding tho cutting up of Jarman's estate for economical watering. The chairman agreed to sco him, as ho had evidently misunderstood tho position. Tho Minister of Agricnlturo wrote, drawing attention to tho spread of lantana in North Auckland, and giving power to Councils to declaro it. a noxious weed in their districts. It wa# considered that specimen samples of the weed should accompany the notice. Tho caretaker's report on tho Walreka system was read, advising thnt mora water could bo obtained from the Selwyn at Coalgato at a reasonable co3t, and thus givo a greater supply to lower Greendalo. It waa resolved to go into the matter more fullv, in view of tho failing supply at tho Kowai head. Somo discussion took place about tho advisability of obtaining the use of a crusher, and the chairman agreed to obtain information for next meeting.
