Advices from Cairo state that a detachment of Syrian National \ olunteers stopped the train in which General Uouraud's C'h'.ef of Staff was traveling, on the Beirut-Damascus line, and removed him to the mountains. _ It is assumed that tho Chief of Stan was proceeding to Damascus to gatc the circumstances conncctod witn the Baalbek fight.
