Before tho opening of tho tournament Mr E. A. Summers, president of the Association, and Col. B. J. Collins, C.M.G., psmt president, made a tour -ji lnspoctton ui ::ii tue frrtens to bo used. Tho headquarters for players participating in tho tournament are on the Canterbury Bowling Club's grounds and paTjlion, whero bowlers arc invited to gather in tho evening* for chaU over tho games and to meet one another. Yesterday was devoted to tho Doubles Championship, play commencing' at 9.50 a.m. and concluding in tho evening. The Doubles Competition will bo resumed to-d«y and continued to-morrow (President's Day), when tho annual North v. South Island match will nl*° bo hold, this came to tako place on the Canterbury green in tio alternoon. Ladle® urn specially invited to attend thifi match.
