WEDDINGS. MeCLURE—McGREGOR. At the Geraldinc Pariah Church on Tuesday afternoon, a wedding which evoked much interest was solemnised. The happy couple were Lieutenant >>*>'- fred McClure, M.M., oldest 9on of Air A. McClure, Town Clerk, Ashburton, and Miss Merle McGregorf daughter of Mr T>uncan McGregor, manager of the Geraldinc branch of the Bank of New Zealand. Tho church had been daintily decorated with pink and white flowers by girl friends of the bride. Thiring tho ceremony, which was performed hv tho Ilov. Canon Staples Hamilton, the hymn "The Voice tnat Breathed O'er iSlen" was sung, and Mi»» Scott, who was at the organ, played the "Wedding March" as the bridal party left the church. Tho bride, who was given away by her father, wore a dress of white satin and georgette, with Silver trimming, the sash ends l>eing linetl with pale pink. !>he also # wore a veil arranged mob fashion, with orange blos-soms on tho side, and she carried a bouquet of white and pale pink roses. I The bride was attended by Miss £. Mc- ! Clure, youngeft faster of tho bridegroom, as bridesmaid. She was attired in a pretty dross of crepe de chine in pale green and pink, with hat to match, and carried a sheaf of white lilies and pink flowers. The bridegroom, j who was m uniform, was intended by his cousin, Captain McClure, M.C. and b ir, who was also in uniform. Mrs McGregor wore a pretty dress ot' grey crepe do chine with pink trimmings, ami a hat to match, and carried a bouquet of lavender-colon red flowers. Mrs McClure wore a becoming costume, grey in colour, and a black hat. After the eercmonv a reception was held at '"SLnrkineh.'* Canon Hamilton, in a felicitous speech, proposed the health of the bride and bridegroom, and, with the other speakers, made referenco to Lieutenant McClure's services in the field, and to these of the bride in hospital and patriotic work. Captain McClure, in responding to the toast of the bridesmaid, said it was owing to the mothers, the sisters, and the sweethearts of the soldiers that they returned as men. The Rev. J. Mackenzie, of Victoria, in the course of a speech, said that the Australian soldiers recognised the men o: the New Zealand Division as being second to none on the field and as being gentlemen off tho field. The healths of tho parents of tho bride and bridegroom were honoured, reference? being made to their patriotic work. A great many congratulatory telegrams were received, and these included on<* from the bride's grandmother, the widow of the late Rev. Robert Mc<Tregor, who was unable to bo present, as well as others from the bride's recent colleagues on the nursing staffs at Christ-church Hospital and at the Bottle Lake Hospital. The voung couple subsequently left for tho '.South t*y motor, the s <3rcsi being a mole coat and skirt, with hat of tne same colour.
