1 ♦ | FOURTH SUMMER SCHOOL. ! The fourth annual Summer School of tho I Sunday School Teachers' Association opened on Monday evening at Christ's College. Between 40 and 50 teachers are in attendance, of whom the greater number are resident. In tho absence of tho Bishop, who in in Duncdiri for the consecration of Bishop ! Jiicliardu, tho members were welcomed by the Rev. Cunon Mutter, who spoke of the value of such turn me r gatherings from the social, mental, and spiritual point of view, lie especially welcomed those v.iio were visitors to Christchurch, among whom are four frotp Palmerston North and ono from Dunedin. Later in the evening, Mi*s Heading©, the Diocesan Educational Adviser, gave an illustrated lecturo on tho Universties' Mission to Central Africa, a romantio story, which was i> listened to with groat interest and appreciation. Yesterday morning the Dean began a series j of lecture.' on "Our Lord's Method of Teachi ing." This was followed by a training class for teachers of infant children, taken by Miss ' Park, of Palmers ton North. Tho last morning session '.vi' devoted to an address on "Atmosphere," by the Rev. P. Carrington, who described an attemot he is making to use all tho activities of the growing boy, and to put more emphasis on doinj than on hearing. The afternoon was given up to recreation, which consisted of a walk to the Rest Houbo at Dyer's Pass. In tho evening Miss Heading* gave a lesson on "The Creation" to a class of senior boys. This was followed by the first of a series of talks on the life of a great French teacher of tho 17th century, Jean Baptists d« la Salle. The day ended with the saying of the ofDce of Compline. Other services of the day are the oalebration of the Holy Communion at 7.15 a.m., and evensong at 5.80. The school will be continued throughout lh«. .Mil
