Scores of peoplo aro reported to havo been killed by a violent earthquake which affectod many parts of Mexico. Tho centro of tlio disturbance is believed to bo near tlio volcano of Orizaba. Orizaba, in tho State of \cra Cruz, suffered tho greatest damago. wild | scenes of panic were enacted hero. Many natives rushed to tho churches, where they prayed. Similar scenes of panic occurred at Toluca, Cuernavoca, and Pucbla. [Mount Orizaba is a volcano on tJio edge of tho Mexican plateau, 18 miles north-west of Orizaba. It has an altitudo of 18,314 feet. Toluca is a town 34 miles W.S.W. of Mexico City. Cticrnavaca is a town 3G miles south of Mexico City. Pnobla is a.largo town 67 miles east-south-east of Mexico I City.] ■ I
