Evans (killed); Blight cut on nose and severe shock. Evans, Erica, lier daughter, aged 10 years; cuts on tho head and on 0110 leg. Hannigan, Annie, 11 years of age (staying with Mrs Evans, on a visit from Ashburton); slight cut on check. Haigh, Edna, 12. years of Lower ilutt; cuts on right cyo and arm. Muir, Miss, 78 Majoribanks street; injuries about back and arms; severe; progressing favourably. Mr-Stay, a fireman, City Fire Brigade; sprained ankle. Neal, Frank, married, residing in Lincoln street, Brooklyn, and employed at Abraham and Williams' wool store; injuries to both knees and hands and bark. Qnaylc, Froderick Ernest, conductor of tho car, residing at Ann crescent, Lynll Bav: slight injuries to back. Range, H. W., fireman. City Fire Brisnulc; sprained ankle and bruised abdomen. Wade. William, assistant purser, b.s. Mararoa; slight injuries. An inquest on tho bodies of tho thrco victims of the accident was opened tedav. After formal evidence had been taken it was adjourned until Monday next. It was stated that Motorman Small was in good health at the time of the accident. DEFECTS IN WELLINGTON SYSTEM. (STECIAL TO "THE press.") WELLINGTON. January 5. Saturday's tramway accident has called attention to the necessity for a medical examination of rootormon to see that they are organicallv sound. The overcrowding of the Wellington trams is also a matter requiring attention. The shortaco of rollinc-stock is no doubt the cause, and this was inevitable, owing to the necossity for limiting building: during tho war. Tt is no very uncommon sicrht nowadays to see every scat in a Wrllincton tram car occupied, and ns manv as from thirty to forty passengers straphanging. The over-crowd-inc would prevent the conductor from eoinc to tho avi stance of tlio motorman in the event of anything happening to him, while the added weight must be a source of dancer should the brakes fail to net on an incline.
