His Excellency tho Governor-General and tho Countess of Liverpool havo accepted ail invitation to bo present at a civic reception to tako place at the Kainpoi Council Chambers on January tho Bth at noon. Tho Kaiapoi Borough Council and members of tho other local bodies and institutions liavo been invited to bo present. His Excclloncy will attend tho annual banquet of tho North Canterbury Sheepfarmers' Freezing Export Agency Co. at 12.30. In the afternoon tho Vicc-Rcgal party will inspect tho Kaiapoi Woollen Mills.
Mr F. V. Frazer, S.M. (Wellington) and family aro n t presont spending a holiday in Christchurch.
Mr E. V. Chaffoy, head of tho bookselling department of Messrs Whitcombo and Tombs, leaves to-day by tho Mokoia, on a health trip of three months, to Australia.
I>r. and Mrs Tniby King havo returned *t<» New Zealand. Tho doctor has, during his abscnco from tho Dominion, done a lot of work in connexion with child welfare in tho United Kingdom and elsewhere.
Tho consecration of tho Bishop of Dunedin to-day will bo conducted by tho Acting-Primate (Bishop Julius), and the sermon will bo preached by tho Bishop of Wellington. Tho Bishops of Nelson and Waiapu will also take nju"t.
